Toronto, ON (September 5, 2012): Take aim, Toronto! LEGENDS GALLERY OF FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY, the GTA’s first and only gallery to showcase rare and intimate photographs of icons from the worlds of film, music, fashion and history, has opened at 87 Yorkville Avenue in the heart of Toronto’s fashionable Yorkville shopping district. For its inaugural exhibition, LEGENDS GALLERY OF FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY has assembled some 72 signed, rare, limited-edition collectible photographs s of the most famous people and faces from the past half century.

From The Beatles to Brando... Dylan to Dior... JFK to Jimi Hendrix ... and Vogue to Vanity Fair, LEGENDS GALLERY OF FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY provides the photography collector and the devoted fan alike an opportunity to own a treasured keepsake –and one that also appreciates in value of their favourite Hollywood stars, rock idols, fashion goddesses and important political leaders for display at home, work or place of business.

Whether it is the unseen and unpublished, or the now iconic, LEGENDS GALLERY OF FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY offers unique and revealing photos taken behind the scenes by gifted photographers who captured these stars’ personalities and private personas. There are:

• Tender snapshots of actors like Natalie Wood, Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman taken at the height of their careers;

Jimmy Page, enveloped in dry ice and performing “Stairway to Heaven;” the famous portrait of George Harrison that appeared on the cover of the special issue of Rolling Stone published upon his death; plus exhilarating images of Bob Marley, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen that viscerally bring to life the energy, passion, style, and sex appeal of rock bands on stage;

• Indelible moments in history like that of US President John F. Kennedy at his 45th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden when Marilyn Monroe appeared in “that dress;” the last know published photograph of Winston Churchill; and Martin Luther King in quiet contemplation;

• Private glimpses of designers like Chanel and Yves St. Laurent preparing models for a photo shoot; contrasted by the famous shot of 7.2’ basketball legend, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, being outfitted for a custom-made suit by his decidedly shorter tailor;

• Plus rare glimpses of such enigmatic stars as Leonard Cohen, Meryl Streep, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Barbra Streisand and Andy Warhol, providing a glimpse into the soul and creativity of the artists that go beyond mere surface and celebrity and highlight the collaborative relationship between the image maker and their subject.

LEGENDS GALLERY’s eclectic and ever-changing collection of fine art photos provides an emotional connection to the most captivating and influential personalities of the past 60 years. “Every picture tells an amazing story,” comments owner Mark Zimmerman, who has been active in the Canadian entertainment industry as a marketer and promoter for some 25 years. “There is definitely a ‘wow factor’ at work. I look at these walls of remarkable photos and I am flooded with memories. These photographers’ works are so insightful. The images and portraits are quite revealing and evoke such a strong, passionate response in me that I just had to share my discoveries with others.”

Priding itself on exceptional print quality, yet reasonably priced, LEGENDS GALLERY’s photographs are predominantly silver gelatin prints processed personally by each photographer. Each photograph is from a limited edition, and numbered accordingly, plus comes with a certificate of authenticity. Several portraits have also been autographed by the star or personality depicted. Before a print is signed or embossed, it is checked by the photographer for image quality so the collector can be assured of the finest representation of the image.

Terry O’Neill, famous for documenting the fashions, styles, and celebrities of the 1960’s. His iconic image of actress Faye Dunaway (his girlfriend at the time) shown lounging next to the swimming pool at the Beverly Hills Hotel at dawn just after winning the 1977 Academy Award for Best Actress for “Network,” with several newspapers scattered around her and her Oscar statuette prominently shown on a table beside her breakfast tray, hangs in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London and is also available for purchase from LEGENDS GALLERY OF FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY.

Other prominent photographers represented at LEGENDS GALLERY include: Baron Wolman, Rolling Stone’s first chief photographer; Henry Diltz, official Woodstock and Monterey Pop Festival photographer; Curt Gunther, who documented life on the road with The Beatles, as well as Paul Saltzman (The Beatles in India); William Coupon, noted for his Time Magazine “Person of the Year” cover portraits; and Patrick Harbron, recognized by Canadians for his memorable shots taken of rock concerts at historic Maple Leaf Gardens.

Beginning next year, the LEGENDS GALLERY intends to mount special shows and exhibits from time to time that highlight the work of a singular photographer or are dedicated to a specific theme.

To assist not-for-profit organizations and institutions with their fund raising efforts, LEGENDS GALLERY will provide works from its collection to charities staging silent auctions. LEGENDS GALLERY is also well-suited as an event space, accommodating approximately 40 guests, and is available for rental for intimate cocktail and dinner receptions, product launches, music events, business seminars and other special functions.
